Look To The Stars For Answers

And she gazed up at the stars and thought
'Will anyone ever love me again? '
And she felt everything she believed in fall apart
Throwing her pride on the floor
Letting her heart go through the strain

And every Saturday night
She threw herself towards someone new
And every Saturday night she cried
Because love said no
Even though she knew it would

And love jeered her
Luring her soul until she could almost feel it
Luring back all her innocence
Only to clip her wings once more
Kicking her out of heaven and its bliss
And closing the door

And somehow she still wondered
With that sweet naive smile
If her prince will come riding on a white horse
Taking her with him
And going across the night sky
Whispering in her ear sweet things
Making her soul once again fly

And she gazed up at the stars and contemplated
'Will anyone ever attempt to love me again? '
And she smiled at the thought
Because the notion of love was a cycle
That never had an end

You'd think we'd learn by now. How many times have I pushed my heart through a shredder, hoping to squeeze more love out of it, and end up with only more pieces than I can handle. I think the realization is the worst; to realize it, and yet not have the moral decency to do something about it; to actually stop the cycle. Very good poem :)
