Looking For A Cure....... Poem by RIC BASTASA

if by chance you have heard
it over and over again
and you feel that it is getting
to be a burden

try going to the mirror
and have a closer look at your self
find a face behind it
it is not yours and it is confused

try listening to the words he is
saying at the back of your head
you may find someone who sounds like
you too

someone saying just to make a sound
in that empty room
someone hissing like a snake looking
for a rat to eat and fill its hunger

looking for a cure to its disease
mumbling, chanting hoping to find in one
of those letters a lead, a tip, a cue
for that still unknown medicine.
