Looking For A Glimmer Of Hope Poem by Mark Dillon

Looking For A Glimmer Of Hope

Rating: 4.7

In the Ukraine and in Syria
And other troubled parts.
Where politicians call the shots
and break their peoples hearts.

The constant quest for a bigger slice
of power on the global stage.
Sending Armies onto the battlefield
to fuel their bloodthirsty rage.
Crushing humanity under their feet
placing freedom and liberty in a cage.

How many bodies piled up high
does it take to quench the lust
for power, money and control.
While blood stains the soil like rust.

Are there any leaders out there
who will look beyond the greed.
Who will raise the flag of justice and liberty
in the peoples hour of need.
Who will fight the hunger, poverty and sickness
Instead of making people bleed.

Where are you now when you're needed.
The people of the world cry out.
Come and do the work that's needed.
Before the light of hope blows out.

Forget all of these poetry comps. These words rise above any competition. We need this glimmer of hope and cannot understand why it is not possible. Why! These words should be sent to every so called leader. Well Done!

A powerful message to rise up against the ruthless quest for power, greed and control over ordinary people who are the pawns in a horrible game played by evil forces! Great lines and beautifully written!
