Looking For Hope - Poem by Alexandros Siganakis
He swims and flies and tries to leave
The wall is thick, the ceiling stubborn
So back and forth he travels fast
But each time digs a little deeper
And he believes the wall will fall.
He dreams of light so great and bright
Which with one flash the wall will crush
And take him far out to the sea
Where he will dive, the fire kill
And go down deeper to a world
Where fish have names and they can speak
And so can he at last look up
And see no ending so, so far.
Until one day he’ll miss the air
And so will trade his gills for wings
And out the ocean he will flee
There in the sky, upon a tree.
His song he’ll sing just like a bird
And stay away so far from dirt.
But strong the walls still stand
Though he has tried escapes he’s planned
And even though they do not work,
He goes on digging like a fork.
