Lord I Stand. Poem by Brian Kamara

Lord I Stand.

As I stand
At they behest,
Dear Lord I pray,
You see through my inequities,
Transgressions and sins -
That cursed and left me a mottled offspring.

As they time comes
For my judgment pronounce,
Dear Lord I pray
You grant me mercy;
In abundance - and forget
The trail which I leave
On my way home.

As my eyelids close
To the beauty of the setting sun,
Dear Lord I pray
That no more will I be blind
But forever more
See through the haze of eternity.

As I come home,
On the eve of that glorious day,
Dear Lord I pray
That with open arms I’m received
To once again feel
The precious warmth that is love -
Dear Lord.
