Losing My Grip Poem by Christian Semmler

Losing My Grip

Rating: 4.0

I've never fallen but I'm constantly slipping
I've seen this all before but I erased the taping
I'm tired of the fighting but I'm the one striking
Tired of telling the story, that's why I'm writing
Made a mess of my life and now I'm stuck cleaning
I want to go back, but I have the life that I'm seeking
The planets are aligned but I feel the world is shifting
I'm not swimming through the water, I'm just lying here drifting
Just wishing that I can be brought to higher ground
Got lost in the stars as I begin to drown
My heart getting weaker with every pound
My head telling me to stop fighting cause I'm almost homeward bound
I stood in the middle and looked around
Yelled her name but didn't make a sound
The life I live is just the one that I have found
I can't hold my ground when it's nowhere to be found
If age is nothing but a number and hate is nothing but a name
Then why do we think love is something that can be tamed
I gave my heart once and nothing's been the same
I tried to show off and now I'm being put to shame
I lost aim when our friendship bursted into flames
We didn't fall in love, we grew into it's frame
Lost our footing along the way, in the wrong mindframe
You were drunk off of love and I was stuck in the pregame
Yet I claim, you're the cause of all of this
I know what I did, but ignorance is bliss
You were my light in the dark but I flipped the switch
Our song was beautiful, but I've lost the pitch
And a broken heart is something even I can't fix
You wanted to be grown but I was childish
Crazy to think I was once the cause of your happiness
But if life is a game, you were nothing but a glitch
I can't let go of the past, but I'm losing my grip

I like this poem. Really good rhyme, and rhythm. Good job. :)
