Lost In Boulevard Poem by Zubia Naqvi

Lost In Boulevard

The light gets dim, as I walk down the street. The night gets cold, as my journey proceeds. The shops pull down their shutters as I pass by the market. Passengers hurry towards the buses and train. I walk slowly as the street gets empty. It gets darker and I keep on walking, in search of another boulevard. As I turn around, to have a look at what I left behind. All I see is empty space. A barren dark land with neither people, nor shops or street lights. The wind pushes me back with its mightiest blow. My eyes wide open as I fall down the large hole. I scream but there is nobody to hear me. I land down on a heap of sand and the hole above me closes. The wind keeps on blowing fast and I tumble down the heap. Shivering and trembling, I wander across the desert. Surrounded by enormous piles of sand dunes and rocks, I know that I'm now lost.
