Lost In Time Poem by Michelle Rainey

Lost In Time

Standing in the center of a hurricane
Paralyzed in the heart of a tornado
Feet nailed to the floor
Lips sealed
Lungs collapsed
Tick tock, tick tock
The hands move around
And around, and around
Faster, and faster, and faster
Sucked up by the the twister
Time spins around her
But it fails to take her with it
It never stops, never ceases
Dizzy, confused, angry
Cemented by her own trepidation
Life continues to whirl around her
If only it could pause, just for a moment
If only she could breathe, just one breath
If only she could close her eyes, just a blink
If only she could speak, just a whisper
But she can't, but she's helpless
And she remains paralyzed
Her last hope, her feared hope
Each speckle of energy
Each grain of passion
She screams
Take me
She instantly collapses
Her surroundings suddenly snatch her
Pulling her into their vortex
Thrown around, spinning for all of eternity
In the center of time
In the center of life
Tick tock, tick tock, tick...
