Lost Keys Poem by Wm George Hess

Lost Keys

I put them down
I do not remember where,
I looked in the entry bureau,
Under our only table, here and there.

I listened to my cat
He begged, purring and mewing,
He rubbed his warm face on my shin
I rubbed him back scratching his chin.

Later when looking for paper
I found them lying
Like a kitten napping
When it purrs, purring and purring.
