Lost Pet - Poem by Joanne Toth

YOU HAVE BEEN WITH ME TWO YEAR'S NOW.
YOUR FAMILY MUST BE WONDERING,
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU.
THERE'S SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT YOU,
I JUST CAN NOT PUT MY FINGER ON IT.
YOU'VE BEEN TAUGHT TO WALK
ON MY RIGHT INSTEAD OF MY LEFT.
YOU'VE BEEN TAUGHT NOT TO JUMP,
YOU KNOW VERBAL AND HAND COMMANDS,
YOU ARE EXCEPTIONALLY SOCIALIZED,
SOMEONE THAT CARED TOOK THE TIME.
SOMETHING TELLS ME, YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
BECAME SEPARATED WHILE TRAVELING
AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FIND YOU.
IF YOU HAD BEEN WEARING A COLLAR AND TAGS,
THERE WOULD OF AT LEAST BEEN A CHANCE,
OF FINDING YOUR FAMILY.
GOD WILLING, MY FRIEND,
ONE DAY YOU WILL BE REUNITED.
