Lost Souls Poem by Tamika Robinson

Lost Souls

if it makes you feel any better
i'll be completely honest
in this poem
i'll tell you everything
and no i won't be modest

my mind's a wreck
i'm emotionally scarred
and even though i'm not afraid
i'm sorrowful
and grieving
the lost little girl who shared my name

the darkness is my gold medal
and the cold is my reward
for years and years
of taking life for granted
and not taking it by force

and now i sit here contemplating
all my life's lost dreams
my eyes are tearing
my ears unhearing
of that little girl's sad pleas

so please take heed
and don't forget
the happy times that've passed
i told you once
i'll tell you again
to always make them last
