Love Poem by Joanna Hamilton

Love

The walls crumble
The windows shatter
The doors fall as their guards
Leak life on to the floor

The invader enters stealthily
Silently creeping nearer
Threatening destruction with every move
Sneaking within the shadows

Hands upon my hips
Words whispered in my ear
Things never felt before
A single word comes to mind as

The invader enters stealthily
Silently creeping nearer
Threatening destruction with every move
Sneaking within the shadows

Tiny hands creep up my arm
A head raises from my breast
Eyes opened wide
Boring into my soul with love

The invader enters stealthily
Silently creeping nearer
Threatening destruction with every move
Sneaking within the shadows

The beating organ
Exposed to all the world
Warm and bleeding
She lifts it up in the air

In her tiny hands where
All the world is safe
She will break the organ
Death will seem imminent
But life will go on

Broken hearts beat
Wounds mend
Give it time
New guards will come

I shall be more carefully guarded
When the next invader arrives
