Love Poem by Michael Walker

Love

Love lives not on the lips but in the eyes
That love the lives of everyone who lives,
For everyone among the living dies,
While only one who lives is one who gives.

Love lives not on the land but on the sea,
Whose waves still sway against the gusts of lust
That say that we must be that which we see,
Though we come from dust and go to dust.

Love lives in light that banishes the dark!
Conducted by a spirit of denial,
For only in the ashes glows the spark
Of love that is not love without a trial.

I love the love that never can defile,
A love that lives in every child's smile.
