Love 6 - Choose Love As Your Religion Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Love 6 - Choose Love As Your Religion

Rating: 5.0

Religion is a great blessing
If it allows
LOVE
The phenomenon of Existentialism
To live and let live
Like a beautiful lotus
Like a fragrant jasmine
Like an innocent baby
Like a melodious strain
Like the twinkling stars!

Choose a religion, if you must
That sanctifies LOVE!
Where the breeze of sweet scented love
Blows freely into your heart
And into your lovely home!
Allows you to recognize the pure spirit -
The Pure Soul!
The divinity in each man or woman,
The godliness in every animal or creature,
The sacredness of every tree, flower or leaf!

Thank you once again for a universal message of love. Love is the only religion that shall pass undisputed or opposed. I am grateful for your generosity, Sir!

Hi Geeta, As the great poet Kumaran Aasan wrote, SnehamaNakhila saaram oozhiyil, meaning, Love is the essence of everything/every life on earth. Snehatthil ninnudhikkunu lokam- The universe has risen out of love. But you are wrong Geeta. Because, no religion teaches/preaches to hate. Every religion speaks of love. Jesus Christ said, Love thy neighbour! It is the illicit human beings of vile theology who spread hatred. The disciples of Jesus Christ who preached to love thy neighbour, conducted the Spanish Inquisition and murdered millions. It is the method of taking some words from the scripture and interpret them wrongly, to suit their convenience, which is to be denounced. Not the scripture. Let us hope everybody sees the light of love. Magnificent poem. Thank you for sharing, as your poem prompted me to think aloud,

Thank you Unni, for your comprehensive comment. All scriptures speak of love only. But it is man who interprets and uses religion in a wrong way. I have nowhere denounced scriptures. They remain sacred for me always. To make it clear, religion should not be made a tool to express hatred and violence.
