Love Awake My Sleeping Heart Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

Love Awake My Sleeping Heart

Rating: 5.0

I lived through all those lonely summers
When the days were warm and long,
But I never shared the comfort
Of a love so deep and strong,
And yet still I kept on waiting
How I longed to find romance,
While the others always found it
I just never got the chance.

I watched the leaves of autumn falling
And felt the winds begin to blow,
I walked the empty streets alone
For I had nowhere to go,
And yet still I kept on searching
But my tears I couldn't hide,
While I tried to keep on smiling
How I hurt so much inside.

And then I felt the cold of winters
When the chills did fill the air,
And I had no one to hold me
For there was nobody there,
And yet still I kept believing
That one day it would come true,
And my dreams just never ended
Dreaming was all I could do.

I lived through all those lonely spring-times
And I watched the flowers bloom,
And I longed to find my lover
But I only found more gloom,
And yet still I kept on hoping
That one day my life would start,
But the years passed by unnoticed
Love awake my sleeping heart.

Wonderful title and last line. Sad but hopeful poem so well constructed. Really nice find. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX

Lovely words with so sincere sentiment expressed. Andrew, may one, who also waited many years for the right one, encourage you to persist with an open and hopeful heart. We do not find love, it finds us and, as many advised me, it usually happens when you least expect. Thanks for such a sharing of the heart.
