Like a puppy opening his eyes for the first time,
Like a baby bird spreading its wings for the first time,
Like a flower opening its pedals for the first time,
Slowly,
Carefully.

Trust takes a peek
Before taking a step out.

The ray of happiness hits his face,
It feels nice.
He takes quick deep breaths and smiles.
He closes its eyes,
And before giving it too much thought...
He jumps out!
Exposing its broken body
Underneath all the Happiness.

He opens his eyes.

Trust laughs,
For the first time in forever,
Trust experiences happiness.

Overwhelmed he hurries back into his cave,
But it comes back,
But not alone.

He’s dragging Love by the hand.
Love shakes her head violently,
She still remembers the pain she felt
When she spent too much time underneath this ray.
She remembers how horrible it felt when it went away,
She was left alone.
There was no light.
Just darkness.

Trust looks into Love’s eyes
He smiles.
He knows this time it will be different.

This time they have each other.

Love closes her eyes,
She trusts,
She knows she won’t be left alone.
She steps out.

Love gives happiness a second chance.
