Love Long Gone.. Poem by Patricia Gale

Love Long Gone..

Rating: 4.4

One step at a time
Carefully examining each path
As I walk the cavern of memories
Feeling the chill that comes deep from within
The stone earth walls seem to grow colder as further I travel
Haunting melody echoes
Bouncing of every side
The song we dubbed ours
Plays or’ and or’
The smell of damp earth takes my senses
Seeing two timbers forming a cross
“A love long gone” etched in the second piece

I see a light
Small but yet distinct
I can feel the warmth of the sun
as the light becomes brighter and larger
Beams begin to light the path
The melody still ringing in my ears
As I take the final step
I take one last look
The melody ceases
I breathe a cleansing breath

Further and further my steps take me
Yet when I turn to see how far I have gone
There is a faint sight of the cavern
That holds the memories of a love long gone
