Love Out Grew Us Poem by David Harris

Love Out Grew Us

Our love out grew us
as the years tumbled by,
our teenage romance faltered
as new day began
until all that was left
were the remnant of a love
that could never have been.
Old now and much more wise
we can still look back with younger eyes
and look at the joy that our first love brought.
Remembering the smouldering kisses
before the fire went out.
Remembering the promises we made
that faded as the years went by.
Remembering the day
love out grew us
and went another way.
