Love Requited Poem by Addy Adenawo

Love Requited

There's nothing more fulfilling than to love and be loved in return
It'd make the heart swell and the head swirl
Turning starving hearts wild like drunks intoxicated with an exquisite wine
Making grown men want to cry

He'd be above cloud nine, flying higher than the eagle
He'd get strength to triumph over the vilest obstacles
He'd dance in the presence of the most ferocious foe
Make him stand and face the cruelest troll

A powerful surge his love gives him, fortifying him against any downer
A confidence that can only spring from that unique flower
A natural high more powerful than any drug
With a kiss he'd reach the highest rung

Alone he was until it came along
Tumbling down and crashing into him headlong
It had soothed his wounded, betrayed heart
Gently removing the heart rending dart

Every time it stares at him with warm eyes glowing adoring
He feels the urge to pinch himself severely
Because he'd being hurt, cheated and jilted
Never in a million years would he have believed he'd be gifted with a love requited
