Love's Pledge Poem by Paul Sebastian

Love's Pledge

Like young couple's first date
Awkwardly we were unprepared
Anxious meeting eyes searched
Body language carefully studied

Defense mechanism broke down
Unfolding real selves we owned
Layers shed, your beauty surfaced
Like fully bloomed rose's face

Our hearts took flight
Unfolding freely till late night
Time chose to elude us
Engrossed; of people, oblivious

Sunny smile made my heart aglow
Nervy disposition calmly restored
You gently lifted my soul's high
Evening's celebration was nigh

Burning love eyes pierced my soul
Tied souls with chains made of gold
Eyes softness spoke of peace
Love-starved souls sought release

Your hand upon mine pledged loyalty
Vowed to stay loving for all eternity
Never to look back but see our stars
Like diamonds glittering our life's path

Shared drink, token of shared lives
Shared kiss, token of our soul ties
Shared hug, committed us
To a life of love-faithfulness
