Love Sonnet 183: 'Like Fruit Which Over-Ripes And Sadly Falls, '

Like fruit which over-ripes and sadly falls,
Youth ends, but hope mine mellows as though wine,
As best to culminate these earthly calls,
And please, my Lord, forgive those sins of mine;
As I may never pass this way again,
Please let this trail I blazed be known, not scorned,
So they too, would my wanderings attain,
Of snares and pitfalls, they would be forewarned;
Though yet more peaks to climb, I contemplate,
But might this task, to them I give to bear,
To conquer where my skills had failed, frustrate,
But then to pride when they would laurels wear;
......For as a guide for path that youth may take,
......Their joys, if not glory, I might partake.
