Love Story Poem by Ramona Thompson

Love Story

Rating: 4.5

A dark rewrite of Taylor Swift's hit, Love Story

A dark tale of love, obsession and betrayal

We were both young when you first brought your nightmare into my life
I close my eyes
And the flashbacks start
I'm standing broken and bloody
On my parent's balcony
In cold winter air

See the police lights flashing
Hear the sirens blaring
The gunshots ringing
I see the cops
Make their way through the crowds gathered
You're in hand-cuffs
But it's too late
Far too late
As I bitterly recall that first hello
Little did I know

That you were a deadly Romeo
Had a record a mile long
Wished now that I'd listened
When daddy said
Stay away, Juliet
Then you were dragging me down the staircase
While I begged you
Please, Romeo, let me go

I tried so hard to talk you down
Talk you out of it
I said
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I promise
No longer will I keep you waiting
Together we will go on the run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby
I swear to whatever you ask I'll say yes

So you sneak me out to the gardren
Tell me to keep quiet and listen
Because they're all dead if I don't

Close your eyes
Whisper that one way or another
Together
Dead or alive
We'll be leaving this town
Never again will anyone try to come between
Romeo and his Juliet
Gonna write 'em all a last goodbye letter
Daddy said
Stay away, Juliet
But you would't let me
Kept on obsessing and calling me your everything
I was begging you to let me go and I said

Romeo, now that you've taken me someplace where we can be alone
I swear there will be no more waiting
If you'll just let the ones I love go
We can go on the run
You'll be the price and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say yes

Romeo, believe me
No more will I let them tell me how to feel
It will be difficult but I know now that your love is real
Don't be afraid
I'll talk to the authoritys
Together we'll get you outta this mess
We could still be happy
We could be a love story, baby, just say yes, oh, oh

You left me waiting
Wondering if you would soon be coming around
My faith in you was rising
When you came back smiling and relaxed
I said

Romeo, thank you
I swear you won't regret this
You'll never have to be alone
Don't keep me waiting
Take me back to my family now
You knelt to the ground grinned so insane, pulled out a ring and said

Marry me, Juliet
Or never will I leave you alone
I love you and that's all my messed up head really knows
I put a bullet hole in your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story, baby, just say yes
Oh, oh, oh
No, no, no
We were both young when you first brought your nightmare into my life
