Lucky One Poem by Justin Gildow

Lucky One

Out in the yard tonight
We lay a blanket down
What we're doing by that feels so innocent
What we're doing by that is so old fashioned

With the blanket laid out on the grass
We lay down and just talk
Talking about what's going on in our lives right now
As we enjoy the peace and quiet underneath the stars

You turn and face me
And you tell me I'm your lucky one
The one you want to be in love with
And I say you're the one who knows how to get past the barriers and defenses into my heart
The one who holds me in the palm of your hand

What you and I both say just might be true
No one knows us like the way that we do

With the night being what it is
You tell me we can get lost in each other if we both want to

Well, babe
The night is young
And the night is whatever it feels like tonight
And we've just announced to the night that we've become boyfriend and girlfriend
And that tonight we're feeling lucky
So from this day forth, you're my lucky one
And from the day forth, I'm your lucky one as well
