Lufian Ðpeians Poem by Robert Sheridan

Lufian Ðpeians

(love opens)

sceawian seð beacen þæt halgians
(see the sign that consecrates)
nu ðnettaned gifeðe
(now hastened by fate)
seð hlafðrd answarianed min gebeds
(the lord answered my prayers)
na mara scierans tð beðn scipen.
(no more tears to be shed) .

fðrðy ðs æ niwe fæmne binnan min lifdagas
(there is a new woman in my life)
beðtian tð cweðan seð riht giedds
(vow to say the right words)
bðt giedds habban twð andgits
(but words hold two meanings)
fðrðy ic gelust habban hæ betynan.
(therfore i will hold her close) .

fðr ðs ð gefelaning binnan min breðstcðfa
(there is a feeling in my heart)
þæt ð niwe dæg gelust beginnan
(that a new day will start)
mid þam þe mid þy þe ic ðpenian ðð tð hæ
(when i open up to her)
ðnd ic cweðan, 'ic lufian eðw') .
(and i say, 'i love you') .

sæ ðs æfre binnan min gehygds
(she is always in my thoughts)
sæ hðs ðnfðned mæ fðre hwa ic æm
(she has accepted me for who i am)
hæ ðnsyn ðs æfre ðndweard
(her face is ever present)
sæ ðs se lufian æf min ealdðr.
(she is the love of my life) .
