The fire had burned a hole
Into my belly
As I chucked my last shot of tequila
The world had gone calm
At 1 am
The neons by the street
Were shutting themselves off
Madness was over!
The city had died
Remorselessly
I picked my copy of Derek Walcott
Laid by the balcony
Counting stars
Bad luck
The sun came out too soon
