(3rd jannuary 1997 / india)

mai kho gayi hun

mai kho gayi hu
mujhe dhundkar lao koi
razai mai chipi
nam aakho mai soi

aaj agar nahi dhunda mujhe
kho jaungi mai hamesha k liye
meri kismat mujse puche
kyu hai ab bhi aakhon mai sapne liye
jab sapne yhe itne hi kacche
kyu hai ab bhi ummide liye

meri aakhon mai meri parchai nahi
zindagi se door ja rahi hu kahin
aakhon mai nind nahi bas aasu hai
khud ki talash mai hi behte hai

mai kho gayi hu
mujhe dhundkar lao koi
razai mai chipi nam akhon mai soi

How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver,
Streaking the darkness radiantly!--yet soon
