Man Can Not Live On Bread Alone – But Cake Is A Different Matter.

* for all you cake lovers like me - i'm not sure this is right yet it maybe taken back down and reveiwed shortly. enjoy!

Cake is a wonderful, glorious thing,
Without it life is not worth living.

Cream cakes and pastries,
Fruit cakes with nuts,
Chocolate cake goes nicely with toffee ice cream,
Treacle sponge and custard is such a dream.
Mixed spice is quite nice,
or strawberry slice.
muffins and flans,
Flapjack, or scones – with clotted cream and jam.
Lemon and ginger,
currents are just wrong!
There’s coffee date and walnut,
or a big slice of gateau.
Lots of tarts and Swiss roles.
And mint choc’ chip pudding (at least 3 days old) ,
Cinnamon and apple,
Poppy seed too,
Plain or vanilla,
With Blueberries, bilberries, raspberries few,
Cherries and sultanas,
Buns are fun – But no icing please.
But there’s nothing quite like a slow baked cheese;
All clarty and cold,
Just the right consistency, to mould,
To the roof of your mouth, and hold…
Toffee chocolate shortbread,
For breakfast, lunch or tea.
Perfect for and afternoon sit down between you and me.

It occurred to me earlier today,
That there is not a cake for mourning,
Like there is for every other event, for example …
You have your birthday cake and wedding cake,
Christmas cake with cheese.
Because there is ALWAYS time for a bit of cake with tea.

So, if life is not worth living without cake,
Maybe that’s why there’s no cake at a wake.
