No more tick and no more tock,
Just sitting still,
Gathering dust,

I wanted a bike,
To do a hundred miles per hour,
But I couldn’t afford a bike,
So I went and bought a Jawa.

In these horrific mud-filled trenches,
Death lurks and death has struck,
Decaying limbs and forgotten bodies,
Lie still and lifeless in the muck.

Hello Darling,
Life’s long friend,
Am I sane,
Or round the bend?

The whistle blows and out we go,
To certain death, well, no-one knows?
A final glance along the trench,
Friends eyes meet and then we wrench,

My life is like a journey
In an overloaded car,
I have to drive so carefully
And I know I can't go far

In a rage the mad dog plunges,
Fangs a gleaming, eyes on stalks,
As if it was the beast itself,
Woman stands no chance,
...

Pain is all around us,
People stagger, and they fall,
Though drugs supplied like peppermints,
Do no good at all.

You made me promises,
You could not keep,
So I sit here alone,
My head in my lap..........and weep,

O Little child of prophecy,
Staring deep into the night,
