Masks Poem by Kathryn Thomas

Masks

Rating: 2.8

Every day's the same
Every day a new me
Can you guess
Who I am today
Or are you perplexed
At my behavior
One day goth
Another geek
And yet another
Just plain me

Have you ever thought
This was to confuse you
All these masks
Were to keep you
From knowing the
Real me

And yet
Every morning
I put on a mask
To make you
Think you know me
But
Until the mask
Is removed
You have no idea
Who I really am

I may smile
And you think
That I’m happy
But
My eyes tell my story
Of pain
Abuse
Bruises

Are you sure
You still know me
And now
That the mask is removed

Do you?
