Maternity Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Maternity

Rating: 5.0

Maternity
- - - - - - - -
Silent and sublime
Descend wonders
Of the cardinal worlds
Of the celestial heavens
His handiwork
Quiet impalpable
Wondrous wisdom indeed
Behind a mere lifeless thing
Containing enough to sprout
Bereft of grace and beauty
Sustains on rich soil, showers
And warm sunbeams
Neither autumn nor winter
Can defeat the designs
Of the invincible seeds
The germination transforms
Them in the earth's maternity
Just go thy way
And in a few days tiny leaflets
Peep and say
See we are out from a new spring
That embraces the magical fertility

Braving adverse weather, a seed germinates and grows into a plant to perform the functions assigned to it! This is Nature's design! Maternity or motherhood is something of a mystery, not only for humans, but for animals and plants as well! Great poem!
