Matthew Christopher Whitley And The Lost Treasure Of Albert Pike Poem by Hubert Wilson

Matthew Christopher Whitley And The Lost Treasure Of Albert Pike

Searching by Matthew Christopher Whitley was about to bear fruit.
Ending years of pursuit.
Located in the Cleveland County seat.
Following in the steps of Vernon Louis Parrington's feet.

Digging in the north prairie ellipse.
Incessantly excavating up to his hips.
Surveyed from the north in Whitehand.
Concealing Masons secreted the treasure in open land.
Obviously for over a century no one would look.
Verified in a map in Albert Pike's old poetry book.
Extracting a huge iron chest.
Reaching the ultimate end of his quest?
Yearning to see inside.

Answers at last Albert Pike would provide?
Nervously he pried open the top.
Dare he not stop?

Tearing the old rotting outer canvas cloth.
Racing mind almost in a froth!
Unwrapping the inner liner so intently -
Touching the large object so gently -
Heavy gold triangle with etched three words of - Matthew Christopher Whitley!
