May I shake your hand
And tell you 'you have my respect! '
For you serving in our military
Has its round about effect

May I shake your hand
And wish you all the best
For you to be standing right here
Tells me you have passed the test

May I shake your hand
May I say 'I honor you! '
And there should be a lot more
That will find your courage too

May I shake your hand
May I call you friend
For it would be such an honor
Until this life comes to an end

May I shake your hand
Yes you there, the U.S. soldier
You are the very one, this world
Lays burdens upon your shoulders
