Me Poem by Lauren Baker

Me

If there was one thing that I wish I could be,
The thing I would wish for would surely be me.
For me to be me must be a great treat,
And nobody else could accomplish that feat.

The me I would be would be bursting with life,
Would be happy and free and never in strife.
Unlike the me that disguises today,
Who never sees life in its full display.

The me I am now's not a me that is free
So I must pretend that somehow I see
The way I would see if I were the me,
That everyone else knows that I can be.
