Memories Of Gran By My Son Kevin Poem by Margaret Kollmer

Memories Of Gran By My Son Kevin

A plaintive cry
as a sea-bird dips
and planes
high above the azure blue
of the sea blow.
Symphonic waves
pound an even beat
upon the timeless shore
and I find my thoughts
reaching out
in an all too soon
murkiness of remembrance.
And lost in the shadows
of yesterday's security
a jazz cornet wails
in minor chords
whilst the contours
of my mind
expand and contract
as they grapple
with the past;
seeking only to strengthen
the hold
on my memories
of you.
