Memory Rain Poem by C.Ann Penning

Memory Rain

Rating: 4.0

Summer morning’s pane
Flowing crystal streams
Pools of memories
Hopes, regrets, life’s dreams
Overflowing the sill

Wells of grief cascade
From bistre windows
Into hot mocha
Waiting on the ledge

Earth’s tender whispers
Of life’s clear secrets
Awaken dear friends
“Cheerily, Cheer Up! ”
So peaceful, joyous

No pebbles to throw
Angry, envious
Oh, to have such peace
Such joy and freedom

Their songs; mockery
Go away; leave me!
Let not the sun shine
Warm my heart; laugh…smile

Feel…
No… just leave me

Shattered glass; missing pieces
Sweep up what remains of me
Cast me into a hot fire
Let it mold and reshape me

Forget the life I once knew

No…

His love a burning ember
Branding my heart forever
Pour my ashes in his grave
Where we’ll remain together
