Menacing Dream Poem by Elizabeth Walker

Menacing Dream

I dreamed a dream and you were there
your bright blue eyes, your curly brown hair
but you weren't on my side
you didn't care.

you fought against me you chased me down
rather than lift my spirits you watched me fall to the ground
I was scared and lonely nowhere to run
you came after me with loaded gun

I looked up at your face and saw an empty stare
you look so confused you used to care
now your demeanor is cold not like the warmth I've expected
every attempt I make to save us automatically gets deflected

where's your radiance? Where's your shine?
there was a time when you saw mine
If dull in your eyes is what you need to see,
for us to be friends them I'm sorry

I don't back down and I don't give in
I'm gonna fight and I'm gonna win
I was happy before you I'll be happy when you're gone
I'm cleansing myself of you and all the things I've done wrong.
