Messenger Poem by Kong Yin

Messenger

An angel says to God:
'Almighty Lord!
You know, a devout young man
has lingered in Your garden
longing to know You.'

God responds:
'Yes, send three envoys to visit him
then We will truly know
if he is ready to pick flowers from My yard.'

'Who are these three envoys we shall send? ”
asks the angel, blinking shining eyes.

God smiles.
'The first is doubt,
the second, loneliness,
and the third,
suffering.'
