Metaphor Poem by Abdul Wahab

Metaphor

Many a time it happens in your life
The emotion you felt, you cannot express
Tiny in size
And short in span
Yet you are left devastated
With its huge impact

You are desperate
To recover soon from the sickness
It causes upon you
by taking pills of words
But your garrison fails you
You lack ammunition
And that is huge and enough

The worst part of this situation
Is that you keep thinking
While your mouth is shut
And it is getting inflated like a balloon inside
You press the buttons of your key pad
They refuse to type as they are held up in an electronic jam

You keep mum
Your right of expression is denied
You feel cheated, a great injustice done to you
New complication arrives
Another will follow
This is quite not good for your health
Take a loan from my bank of words
This will help you out
from your precarious situation

Now you look around
To pick examples to create an image
But you find none suitable
Nothing comparable with your emotion

You may close your eyes this time
Or look at a thing
Fixing and casting down your gaze
This is what we call doodling
And I call it a poor man's marriage with a Hollywood girl
A casting couch for a new comer
Here you get lots of images in a package
Buy one and get three, totally free
They are complicated and too far fetched

Do not hang your face in disgust, my friend
Take another object in your hand
Talk about it but never give meaning
Despite describing it, make it your mere vehicle
Shift the meaning to what you felt

And a device, wonder, is discovered
We all the artists call it metaphor
The product of inability of man
We take help of it when are unable to expressing directly
And it opens for us
A gate of heaven of creativity
This is enough and surprising.
