Milestones Poem by Jeannette Heywood

Milestones

Rating: 4.5

You reached your first milestone today with that smile.
You're changing so quickly, stay this small for a while.

You're gurgling and chuckling, you laugh at your Dad.
Surely this is the happiest time that we've had.

You're sitting up now, watching and listening.
I'm awestruck by you and my eyes they are glistening.

My heart's in my mouth now, whenever you crawl.
I'm excited but anxious, so worried you'll fall.

You took your first steps, now we really can play.
I whisper a prayer, don't let time fly away.

My goodness your talking! Now properly walking!
Oh baby of mine, how fast went the time
