Military Life. Poem by Kirstyn Goodknight

Military Life.

Why did you have to walk out that door?
You promised it was just a job, and you would be back soon.
Why did you have to go to the danger zone?
You said everything would be okay.
Why couldn't you say with me?
You said that's not how life, or your job works.
Why does this still hurt?
You told me it would hurt for just a little while.
Why did you have to tell me you would come home safetly?
You told me nothing could hurt you.
Why did you get hurt, why wont anyone tell me anything?
You told me you got hurt but your fine, now nobody will speak.
Why have I not heard from you, why wont you answer me?
You didn't call like you said you would. I've called, you haven't picked up.
Why aren't you coming home?
Finally someone called and said you didn't make it to come home.
Why are you gone?
Your not coming home, your going to a better place.
Why did you have to leave me?
Your not coming home like you promised.
