Milky Way Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Milky Way

Rating: 2.5

She was faithfully attached
to my son…
Now, down on his luck
he had very little he could
claim to own…
except his darn cat

Reluctant to ask his mother
to return to the home
where he had grown
Let alone bringing another mouth
to feed
Was it okay…or should he stop
at the Humane Society?

Of course the declaration of
rejection was too hard to say
The feline named Milky Way
accompanied her owner
Relieve when the journey
was complete
Sleeping contently at his feet
