Why is man unhappy?
Why is he discontented?
Is it for the gaping gap
Between wish and result
Promise and performance
Aim and action
Idea and deed?

Idea is too fast for action:
Body is a bullock cart
Mind a supersonic jet.

Mind is the seat of ideas
Body is the seat of actions
Mind is powerful
Body is limited in strength.

Mind is invisible and airy
Yet does it visualise
Fantastic objects and objectives.
Body is visible and brawny
Yet it cannot go far.

Body lags behind like a snail
Mind marches ahead like a lightning.

Mind is mighty
And goes on and on and on
Even as the body decays
Collapses and goes into the dust.

So the wise say:
“Mind over the matter”
So mind your mind
And body falls in line.
