Mindoro Croc Poem by Ima Ryma

Mindoro Croc

Mindoro crocodile, I am.
Live only in the Philippines,
Where most of my species have swam
Into human made bad death scenes.
But now we're protected by law,
Safe in marsh waters o'er and 'neath,
Which brings a wide grin to my jaw,
Letting bud birds pick in my teeth.
But still we're wary humanwise.
Though they can be handy, we note.
They are so easy to surprise.
Here come some tourists in a boat.

Ah - there's a snack for me no doubt.
I quickly head for a hand out.
