Mine Alone Poem by Francis Duggan

Mine Alone

I have no wish to harm others or do them any wrong
And my views on life are mine alone and to me they belong
I'm not what most would call a success poor in a material way
Since money speaks all languages in the World of today.

My views on life are mine alone some with me disagree
Each to their own as many say that does seem fair to me
The billionaire just like the pauper to the Reaper's scythe must fall
To fair play I will drink a toast and a fair go for all.

Your views on life are your views and your opinions you've made known
And though we look at life quite differently your opinions are your own
The wealthy and the famous are the people you admire
And of singing their praises you never seem to tire.

You wish to become wealthy and famous and to such a dream you cling
So many like you have such a dream for you such a good thing
We would seem very boring if we were all the same
So I hope you realize your dreams and you'll know of wealth and fame.
