Minor Leaps Of Faith Poem by Syed Mizbahuddeen

Minor Leaps Of Faith

Rating: 4.7

I have never seen a squirrel in my city
That is lazy – it has a back story so strange
It is about the ancestor squirrels tenacity
To soar higher and higher and bring a change

The squirrel was fanatic about flying
So he decided to speak about his unquenchable thirst
To the best friend of his – a bird who after trying
Learnt to fly though he failed at first

The friend of his was tickled pink
“Do not thy life precariously end,
Before jumping off, twice do think
Pay heed to advice from a friend”

“But my dearest friend, it tires my soul
To walk only on the land
I shall wear my sinew and heart to the whole
To rise, and higher someday stand”

'So he let his languor loose and jumped from a tree
To another-his first step to fly a few feet off and he got it right
They said you weren’t flying, “You have eyes but cannot see”
Said the squirrel, “I believe in minor leaps of faith”
