Mist Of My Agony (Recommended) Poem by Ridah Ellahi

Mist Of My Agony (Recommended)

Rating: 5.0

I try to remove the black curtains,
I try to shatter the black glass.
I long for the light to touch my skin.
I long for it to remove the crisp coat of the dark.
But the more I try,
To find a way out,
The more the mist is thickened;
THE MIST OF MY AGONY.
With every scream,
It grows thicker.
With every tear,
It rages faster.
But the tears don’t stop,
And neither do the screams.
My soul trapped inside the broken mirror,
Now being clogged by the mist.
I look at my pitiful reflection,
At myself, I too, scorn.
I scream at myself,
Diverting my suffering here.
Oh, how disgraceful!
I avert my eyes from me.
I can’t bear to see,
The helpless, miserable creature,
That meets my glare,
From the other side of the mirror.
The eagle that once soared high in the sky,
For the sky, was its kingdom,
Now lies trapped in the mirror,
At the mercy of the world.
I try to let my tears carry,
The burden that now eats me.
But my eyes are barren.
They carry no tears…
No dreams…
No life.
My soul, my only faithful accomplice,
Has now left my side.
I look for my sanctuary,
I look for a place to hide.
The mist that was suffocating me,
Now feels like my safe haven.
I bury my face in my hands,
As the eagle now folds its wings.
Prepared to welcome death,
In the sweet embrace of this mist;
THE MIST OF MY AGONY…
