MODEL MEMENTO:

Stolen from an artist's model
Her box of memento and jewels
Of The Lady Yvonne's brief life
Yvonnes? An upper and lower
Case of password of very strong
And so very secure entry foreplay
Tokens for tolls at E-Z-Ride loss
By the side of heavy traveled
Roads - drawn to her his only
Life's crime to stalk to break-in
And enter her solitary inclination
The truth of trust burglarized
He would pay in time served
With his life's incarceration to
Take the fall for others ordained
To give her false prophecies to
Worship her with blood and psalm
Sung in the velvet 'Imagination'
Of Jesse Belvin to the silky 'Be
Good' admonition of Greogory
Porter -and the 'Unforgettable'
And Mona Lisa smile in Nat King
Cole - sacrifice for promises and
Dedications made one to another

She happened into the room
Reducing space to recline to
Drape her Nubian dressing gown
Uncovering her desirable sculptured
Resort - she happened into life's space
Reducing it to a studio prepared for
Works that want not any good thing but
Models placed in recline - she draped
Her Nubian dressing gown uncovering
Truth of sculptures shaped to Neferetti
She once found and shopped her
Dress from a department store
Warehouse sale - it hung from her
Body as a tent blown over onto
Sculptured daughters of Nefertiti
To hang onto carpeted floor - she
Wore drapes to shape presentation -
Her very soul would show beneath
Erotic veils she wore blue velvet and
The jewel of murmurs from her heart
Spoke to me that she knew when we
First met I would be like this - her
Salutary lover bound to attention to
Every breath and murmur her heart
Made at depths of invisible cool
In silence of languages unspoken
Though love we would make more
Sentimental for reasons kept inside…if
Made only for the moment given us
Behind her breast lifted up and in
The spirit with more drink of smoke
Inhaled to smother every word
Her flesh rolled to command more
Desires than minds could imagine
From under the tacks of time
Silence incensed the pleasures' haze
She's the queen of them all the host at
The supper and ball the mother and
Companion better loved than them all
My silent maid becomes queen and
She serves this parole.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Woman teaches love by the womb, by the tenderness within and without that can be appreciated, desired and fulfilled... accepted gifts of strength...

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
