Modern Leisure Poem by Paul Holmes

Modern Leisure

Rating: 4.8

</>What is this life we live these days
When we have no time to stand and gaze
At a stunning sunset on a summer’s eve
Or, the delicate web a spider did weave.

No time to talk around a dinner table
When many want to watch T.V. by cable;
No time for some even to eat a meal
As longer working hours these steal.

No time to sit by our child’s bedside
And help him in a heart to confide;
No time for kids to play in the street
When many prefer on Facebook to meet.

So, what is this life we live these days
When modern leisure has so many ways
Of fragmenting families, how can we cope?
It seems our lives are on a slippery slope.

I liked the 'It seems our lives are on a slippery slope' line, very apt..
