Money Laughs Poem by RIC BASTASA

Money Laughs

i shoot an old man

with my camera
taking a tired face

inside my monitor
for posterity of misery

i shoot the old man
telling him that financial aid

is coming from the
United Nations

the old man sheds some tears
i guess

to be more convincing

money is a very
efficient film director

i shoot an old English professor
who is dying

of attention
and then i talk to money

and money laughs
finally convincing me

that it can always change
the mood of anyone

even my own
some kind of pretension
