Monkey Man Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Monkey Man

And here we arrived
The monkeys of the past
With baggy pants and
Colorful shirts and loads
Of money in pockets

Here we arrived
The all time beggars
Sycophants and jokers
Always in a rush to pile
Gold and silver and platinum
In our pursuit of happiness

We don't care for
The trees, the streams
The hills and dreams
We don't have time for them
We have developed new
Claws to tear away social
Etiquette and relations

We are monsters of present day
Ready to snatch away
What the poor have
Their souls too
If possible we won't go back
